Morning of day six

Well. obviously I am not good at journaling. Actually, I have been a bit crabby the last few days. Even my daughter stayed away. Woke up this morning with a bit more energy than usual which is a very good sign. The next few days are not going to be easy. Really getting down to very simple food choices and more of the protien drink. I actually like the drink with the soy milk...not really looking forward to it plain but I have gotten this far and wont stop now!

Got on the scale for the first time since I started Saturday. I lost 2lbs!! woo hooo...a nice side effect from this. I am watching my portions more this time around. Last time went a little over board on the nuts and eggs.

Tonight the group meets. I am looking forward to touching base with everybody. Have gotten a few emails of encouragement THANK YOU

DAY ONE DONE!...

Me, Jan 2010

Yesterday, Jan 23, 2010 was day one of a 2 week detox diet I have committed myself to. I have decided to post here every day to journal my experience. This new year I have alot to do both professionally and personally. I have created a mindset to incorporate them into one. Working with/for mostly women these past 16 years, I hear time and time again that they know what they need to do make the changes they would like...........they just don't do it. They tell me if only motivation could be put in a pill they would be all set. Actually, with all the rip off stuff out there I am surprised no one hasn't come up with that.

I am here because I believe I have found a way to help. I wont lie and say it is as easy as taking a pill. It is however "free".

Here, is where I am going to begin testing it on myself.

The detox diet program I am doing was created by Dr. Adam Craig. The first time I did the program was in November 2006. I remember getting to the end and wanting to keep going because I felt so great!!...I want to feel like that again!
You will notice I am not posting measurements or weight. I am not doing this diet to lose weight...however, a better/leaner/healthier body is a goal in the big picture. This detox is the best jump start I know of. There is no better motivator then beginning to feel better.

Studying holistic health and wellness coaching, along with years of working with clients to improve the health of their skin, has taught me that only when one becomes truly proactive will the changes happen. The first step is careful study of ones own personal assessment. The second step is making the commitment to be proactive. The third is to tell someone else!(a clue) Fourth, have a plan, Fifth, just START!

My assessment involves multiple areas of my life. I have made the commitment to be proactive...Now I am telling you!I made a plan of action.I have decided to start my changes and growth with a detox diet for several reasons, here are some of them

~I know my body has been abused and overwhelmed with toxins from the processed foods I have eaten and uncontrollably, our environment.
~ Physically I have too much body fat
~ I feel sluggish
~ I have noticed a change in my muscle tone
~ I feel icky in my clothes,
~ mentally not as focused as I need to be for what I want to accomplish
~ truly want to give my body a break from toxins
~ my skin is looking dull and is breaking out
~ I need to take more care in my food choices
~ Ultimately ....I want to start out the gate feeling my best

This program consists mostly of organic, whole food choices, elimination of foods,a medical grade nutritional support product, and lots of water. The hardest part for me is the control to stay away from sugars, the urge to just grab something to eat without thinking about what I am putting in my body, and mostly, food prep. The first time i did it I told myself if I couldn't do this for two weeks I was a loser........being hard on myself to begin with, I knew I couldn't let myself be a loser!
IT WORKED!

I have a lot of work in many areas to get done.......50 is around the corner and I have made a commitment to myself that I will be feeling FABULOUS AT FIFTY years YOUNG! And, with any luck, I will accomplish my goal and learn alot in the process that I can share. (Now there is another clue to the answer I think I have found.) Stay with me and stay tuned.....this is for you as much as for me.

Please feel free to post comments, suggestions and of course words of encouragement because I know I will need them!

So,here goes day one report!
actually went very well. I had to work early and wished I had prepped the night before but I got it done.

BREAKFAST
did my warm water/lemon/Cayenne pepper first thing
had oatmeal with blueberries and green tea

SNACK
almonds
LUNCH
did the "drink" with soy milk...actually better then I remembered
salad with lots of veggies and tofu ...was a little hard watching the girls eat their take-out burgers, fries and hot dogs...but I survived just fine with a smile in my heart believing in myself...AND, I told them all what I was doing!!
SNACK
almonds and strawberries
SUPPER
brown rice, chicken and spinach

Didn't drink as much water as I probably should of but did get in alot of green tea.
Never felt hungry, just a little annoyed I couldn't have some of the peanut butter cup in the fridge, had company and wished I could of had a glass of wine.

So far today is going well with the exception of a serious craving for my Sunday morning cup of coffee........

Will try to post tonight with an update of the day

Till then
peace,
Lisa
